Charlie Sprinkman (he/they) is always in motion. They do it all: running the website, social media, and day-to-day app maintenance for Everywhere Is Queer, a free app (and ever-growing searchable map!) on iOS and Android created for the LGBTQIA2S+ and ally community to find welcoming, queer-owned spaces to shop, connect, eat, learn, and grow all over the world. Charlie is a busy person, but he is always working to build up others in the community and help forge connections between people who might otherwise feel isolated and unsupported. That’s what’s behind their mission: empowering communities to find each other and grow together, creating the rising tide that lifts all boats. It’s creating a resource that feeds back into the community; it’s not just a mission, it’s a movement.
How does he do it all? It’s all about balance. And part of that balance means smart delegation: offloading the tasks that are important, but not necessarily mission-critical, to a capable third party who can take the reins and run with the ideas. Someone who can keep up with the hectic pace that EIQ has set for itself, someone who’s been a fan from day one and a constant evangelist for the resources they make available. We’re happy to announce that Everywhere Is Queer is entrusting Lavender Menace with some of these important tasks, including representing EIQ through partnerships with values-aligned brands who might want to collaborate with them.

It’s not just an app — it’s a movement.
During a huge road trip through 41 of the 50 United States, Charlie struggled to find places that he felt represented and safe. They realized that they kept searching for things like “queer spots in ____” or “LGBTQ+ friendly [shop, bar, restaurant, hotel, etc.] in ______” everywhere they went. (Maybe you can relate?) That’s how the idea for Everywhere Is Queer, a searchable map of 2SLGBTQIA+ owned businesses across the globe, was born. The idea is to connect LGBTQIA2S+ folks with the businesses and spaces that support them, no matter where they are or where they might travel to. In a world that’s increasingly hostile towards the identities under the big rainbow umbrella, this list of safe spaces and places to shop, eat, hang out, and spend time together is a hugely important resource.

What’s in store?
Everywhere Is Queer is taking off, growing in popularity rapidly, and adding businesses to its map all the time. What started with just 5 businesses is now a list of over 20,000, and more businesses are adding themselves all the time. EIQ is also such a fun follow on social media, sharing queer joy, messages of support, hope, and resistance during The Struggles going on in the US right now, and even taking followers on a queer road trip as Charlie drove across the country during a move to the Big Apple. Now that he’s setting down roots in NYC, Charlie can begin to think about taking on more creative projects, including sponsored content.
